Wow, what a time I had at "Our Family Reunion 2008". I saw family and friends, played games, learned family history and took a few pictures to boot. Click here to view the pics that I took. Send me an email and I will tell you how to up load the picture you took. Thanks to all the folks that attended, you really made my year.
Hello Every One,
Let me send one more detail before we get to the Reunion. Concerning music, If you have some that you would like to hear, please bring it with you on CD or even USB flash drive. Our music will be played via the computer and speaker system. We are still looking for a volunteer DJ.
Thanks and will see you all on Friday afternoon / evening.

Lord bless the journey which we are about to undertake, that it may profit the health of my soul and body; that we may happily reach our destination, safe and sound. Save us from danger on the way; Give us good grace, kindness and favor in both your eyes and in the eyes of all whom we may meet and that, returning safe and sound, we may find all at home in good health (and my home kept safe).
Blessed us all, Lord our God, amen.

We are definitely a go for the Great Pig Pickin on Saturday, Aug 2, 2008. I am so excited that we are coming together again as a family and we have the opportunity to meet, greet and EAT. Here are some details.
We have reserved a 100 lb pig from Kinlaw's Meat Processing in Fayetteville. It will be ready for pickup on Friday afternoon. We are sure to have a great Pig Pickin, Billy Davis of Columbia SC will be applying the heat and sauce. At the Request of Billy Davis, We are going to leave the Head on. Billy will bring his grill and fixin's to Fayetteville and is ready to work his magic.
He is going to start cooking the pig early evening on Friday. Our Pig pickin will also include some chopped Boston Butts intermixed with the bbq'd pig meat, pineapple, apple and other fruits will also be appropriately adorned within. Billy has asked about a preference of sauces and as a result, we will have two of his special sauces. He will prepare a vinegar based sauce along with a mustard base sauce. Who says you don't have choices in life.
After roasting all night, the pig should be ready for pickin (eating) around 1:00 pm on saturday. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again, I have tasted these sauces and I know we are in for a treat.

I do have one concern, after tasting this, everyone is going to want more and more. I just hope we have enough. To help with that, I understand that we will have other folks on grills cooking hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans. This is great and should prove fulfilling and satisfying. I have heard that cakes and fruits will be there also. Saturday will be filled with great food, great family and great times. I look forward to the events. I can imagine it now, One great family photo where everybody has BBQ sauce all around their mouths.
See Ya There !

However, 5 rooms will be on hold until July 30th is someone is still in need of lodging for the weekend, please call (301) 333-5429 or (240) 601-6649 for information on these rooms.

Note: If you are planning to attend and have not yet sent in your fees or have not notified a committee member of your interest in attending the reunion, we can not guarantee your breakfast on Sunday morning. This is so because the sale manager for the Holiday Inn is requesting the final headcount and final payment on Tuesday, July 29th. No Exceptions!
Note: There are only 3 room left at the special room rate of $80; we just released 2.

We're only six weeks away from the from the annual reunion and everything is on schedule and going in full force. We are so thankful for our family and even more thankful that God is bringing us together once again as a family.
There is only a little bit of reunion news to report this week. You will find the solicitation business list attached and so far no donations, we still have a few weeks more to allow them to respond.
The registration process have picked up immensely, now if we could just get those other 30 something family members to send their registration fees in we will be in business. Also when sending in your registration form, please list all family members that are planning to attend. This is so important because as you know we will be having breakfast prepared for us on Sunday morning and we need to know how many to prepare for. In the past so many family member promise to attend Sunday morning service and have dinner thereafter, but they don't show up. This year we are trying something different, breakfast and a word for the Lord from our very own family member.
Linda Butler have agreed to help out in any way she can, thanks so much! We still are soliciting family members to sign up to cook a cake or prepare a special dessert. So far we have 4 cakes and we need about several more to complete the Friday's and Saturday activities. I will be reaching way out to family members to ask to prepare a dessert.
JaQuan & Diane can you ask you mom to grace us with one her specialty cakes or desserts? It's a couple more folks out there that will be called upon real soon. So be on the lookout.
In closing may God continue to bless each and every one of you!
Please help these folks celebrate this years birthday, if you see them, please pat them on the back for putting up with us for another year.

Thanks Mom,
We wish you a very joyous and happy Mother's Day. We thank God each and every day for you. And we thank you for all you have done, all you do and all you will do. You have always been there for us - from before we were born to the days you taught us to crawl, walk, run, tie our shoes, spell our name and count our money. You watched over us as we grew and passed through the many stages of our lives. You were there from the first day of school to graduation day, and every day in between. As we grew, you counseled and guided us toward maturity and adulthood. You stood by and picked us up when we fell. When we veered from the course, you steered us toward the way we should go. You encouraged and scolded. You praised and chastized. You held our hand and let you us go. You fed, nourished, clothed and housed us. You led us to God. You introduced us to the world, protected us from it and prepared us for it. You taught us to stand up for ourselves and others. You taught us to choose, when to say "yes" and when to say "no". You taught to achieve. When we're not perfect, it is because you allowed us to be ourselves. You allowed us to make mistakes and grow from them. We thank you. Every slip, every fall, every mistake helped to make us wiser and stronger. Every one helped to make us what you always wanted us to be - Men!
For all you do, for all we are, we thank you and love you.
Happy Mother's Day!
Julius, Ernest, Jerry, Dale, Quinton & Victor.

It’s time to do it AGAIN! God continues to bless us as we prepare to reunite.
“Our Family Reunion 2008” will be held in Fayetteville, North Carolina, August 1 - 3, 2008. We will meet, greet, talk, mingle, fellowship, laugh, catch up on the latest gossip, have fun, reminisce, renew old friendships and make new memories.
We will begin with a "Meet & Greet" on Friday afternoon. Saturday we'll gather in the park to enjoy food, family, fun and friendship. Activities are planned for all age groups to make this an exciting and enjoyable day for everyone. The excitement continues Saturday evening as we return to the hotel for some indoor events that may prove to be the highlight of the weekend. In all things, we give thanks and praise to The Lord, our God. We'll certainly do that Sunday when we meet for a prayer breakfast and some of that "Old Time Religion"!
We've kept the rates very reasonable so that everyone can be there. Adults (18 and over) are as asked to contribute $45.00. The Youth (9-17) rate is only $20.00, and you can bring the kids (8 and under) for free!Note: Click Here For Registration Form
![]() | These low prices include a special gift for everyone who registers early and wears a 2004 or 2006 "Our Family" T-shirt to the Meet & Greet on Friday. |
We've negotiated a special discount rate of $80.00 for hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn at 1944 Cedar Creek Road in Fayetteville. To reserve your room at this special rate, call the hotel at 910-323-1600 (or 888-465-4329) and ask for the "Hinton Family Reunion -2008" special.
We're still working to finalize the list of events and activities. More things are in the works than we have volunteers to make them happen. Check the schedule of events on the next page and let us know what you'd like to help with. If you have ideas for additional activities (and are willing to make them happen!), get them to us right away. We want to make this the best "Our Family" reunion ever!
The full agenda will be posted on "Our Family" website, www.papagranthinton.net, and published in the May 2008 Newsletter.
As we prepare to reunite and celebrate Our Family, may the grace and peace of Our Father be upon each and everyone of us. Get ready to shake a hand, give a hug, and pass on a smile. Register early, volunteer to help, and dig out those old T-shirts.
